Spring Training for Baseball

The 2009 spring training for baseball started on February 25th. All Major League teams played their first game on this day. In the years past, the teams chose the day they wanted to schedule their first game. This year, they have had thirty nine consecutive days of games scheduled for them. This is a great benefit for the fans that attend the games that are held at this time. Most of the training games are held in Florida and Arizona. This year, they have included every team to have two or three days off before they break for camp.

The way spring training is set up in 2009 allows the management of the teams to get more of their players on the field to play. This also helps the pitchers to get in more innings. The fans and crowds will be happier and larger because of the season is being extended. There will also be more opportunities to watch the players as they get ready for the regular season.

In Arizona, there are two new Cactus League parks for the 2009 spring training of baseball leagues. One is Camelback Ranch-Glendale, and the other is Goodyear Ballpark. Both have civic groups that sponsor the spring training. The Dodgers and the White Sox are two of the teams that will attend this training. They have hired ushers and parking attendants and are not using any volunteers. Goodyear Ballpark is the new spring home of the Cleveland Indians. They have decided to use nonprofit groups to work in the stadium. There are also some older parks in the area such as Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, as well as Tempe Diablo Stadium. Both of these parks also have volunteers.
