Wind Generated Electricity

Wind generated electricity has many practical applications, both for individual usage as well as industrially. One of the benefits of using wind is that it is more available than the sun, occurring 24 hours a day, rather than just half of the time. Since many states have adopted aggressive tax credits and rebate programs recently, individuals and businesses are encouraged to utilize these alternate energy systems. Some of these rebates are as much as 50 to 60 percent off the cost of installing wind generated power systems to your home or business, as well as paying for itself within 8 to 12 years, rather that up to 20 years for solar.

Wind technology has come a long way from the windmills of old, and have much more energy producing capability. There are new turbine engines that convert the lower wind rotations to higher energy production through gear trains to maximize output even on less than perfect wind producing days. New battery products and modern inverters store and convert power to individual applications more efficiently. The size of the wind machine can very greatly, from small turbines that produce less than 100 kilowatts, to large models that can produce 5 megawatts of power. Stringing these grand scale units together into wind farms even help to reduce the strain put on our power grids.

There is a lot of information on wind generated electricity online. There are companies that are studying and researching new ideas on converting mother nature's power into practical electricity usage to relieve some of the stresses we have put on our planet. From using lightweight materials, to optimizing blade position, companies are experimenting with how to get the most from their money.
