All About Albert Pujols

Albert Pujols was born on January 16, 1980 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He is best known as a Major League Baseball Player as he plays first base for the St. Louis Cardinals. He is now in his eighth season. Albert is also ranked as one of the best in baseball with home runs. He leads active players in batting and slugging averages. During last season with the Cardinals, Albert hit his 300th home run. This milestone made him the fifth man his age to earn this honor in MLB history.

Pujols began his career in baseball when his family came over to the states. He played for his high school team in Independence, Missouri and held some high honors with them, showing his determination to play ball. From there, he went on to play some college ball with a junior college in Kansas City, Missouri. He was scouted by some teams such as the Colorado Rockies and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Finally, in 1999, he was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals. He was assigned to the minor leagues, earning $70,000 per year.

He was moved up to the big league during the 2001 season. While playing against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Pujols had an amazing game, which earned him the honorable title of Rookie of the Year. Moving forward, Pujols earned the spot of the Most Valuable Player in 2005, and in 2006 the St. Louis Cardinals were the World Series Champions. Albert Pujols has already left his mark on the world with his incredible talent on the field and his generosity off the field. In 2005, the Pujols Family Foundation was established to help those afflicted with Down syndrome.
