If a young man does not play football in Texas, he may has no social life whatsoever. Even though there is a lot of pressure put on a young high school player, Texas high school football is so popular that parents and coaches simply enjoy the phenomenon and the magic that happens every Friday night.
Even with the hysteria of Friday Night, the coaches and parents work together to provide a fair, competitive experience for Texas High School Football. There are strict rules and guidelines that coaches and parents follow to the letter. Texas High School Football is so visible outside of Texas that coaches are under a lot of pressure to perform and maintain the high standards expected of them by the public.
Intensity and focus drives the coaches and the athletes because they believe that in order to play fair, the rules have to be presented up front, explained in detail, and rehearsed. At the same time, the coaches know that the football program is judged by the win-loss record; hence, a great deal of pressure is placed on young men in Texas High School Football programs.
The Friday night football concept started in the southwestern football conference in Texas. In the fifties, the beginning of the playoff system and division into conferences was established to allow as many young men to play as possible. In the coming years, the system was refined and has produced a great outlet for young men and families. On Friday night in Texas, everything stops; there is just a football game. Just like in the movies, the camaraderie is high and spirits run rampant.
