It is most fathers’ dream come true when his child joins a little league baseball team. Baseball is one of the most popular sports in America, and most children find playing to be fun and exciting. Little league offers a multitude of quality benefits for young people today. It is open to both boys and girls from age 5 to 18.
Parents need to understand that it is all right to encourage their child to play baseball, but it is best not to force a child to play. Once the child decides to play, he gets to learn the rules of the game as well as one of the most important lessons -- how to be a good sport. The children also realize that they have the opportunity to be with their friends as well as make new ones while playing a fun game. Parental involvement can be an added benefit for kids. If they see their parent actively involved, some children feel more appreciated; and when they see their parent cheering for them, they feel proud of themselves.
Little league teaches children how to enjoy playing baseball and how to work together with teammates to attain a mutual goal, although some children may lose interest in playing for a multitude of reasons. Whether the child just doesn’t like the game or decides he might want to play a different sport, a he should never be forced to play something that he really does not enjoy. It is all right for him to choose not to play.
