The truck drivers that drive 18 wheelers have to be very good at what they do. They have to be committed to their jobs because most of their time is spent on the road away from family and friends. Some drivers spend more than a week at a time away from their home.
Of course there are some perks to the job as they do get to travel and see a lot of places. The driver has to spend a lot of time in his truck as well as in hotels and diners. This can be a very lonely life for some so it is obviously not for everyone. Not everyone can put one of those big trucks into a parking lot without hitting a car. Some would even say that they are known as the last American cowboy. These drivers take our goods all over the country so that we can have what we need to feed and clothe our own families. Some of them carry furniture or supplies for stores that we also need to fix up our homes and make them comfortable.
Someone has to deliver our goods and truckers are some of the few tough enough to survive the harsh conditions of the open road. Where would we get our food if we had no truck drivers to deliver it? Just stop and think about how we would survive if we had no way to transport some of our needed wares. Because of this, it is obvious trucking is a truly important occupation.
