It's no surprise that nearly everyone is struggling right now given the current state of the economy. What may come as a surprise to a lot of Americans is that the entire world is struggling right now but something can be learned from this. The main things that can be learned from the rest of the world is that you can survive.
First and foremost, if you want to survive in this economy, you are going to have to re-evaluate your spending. It can be small things like not having every single movie package on your cable or cutting down on the number of minutes given to you by your cell phone provider. One of the best ways to cut back on spending is with food. Cutting down or completely eliminating eating out can really reduce spending. Also, not buying the Oreo cookies, ice cream sandwiches, or any other junk food from the supermarket will help you a lot.
Another great way to survive in this economy is to think of money saving techniques. As oil prices surged during the summer in 2008, many people resulted to riding a bike, walking, public transportation or carpooling. Even though the prices of oil per barrel have dropped, it would still be a good idea to continue your alternative means of getting around. These are two key aspects for surviving the economy in 2009 but depending on your own personal situation, there are surely more things you can do to help you out.
