Average working Americans and people all over the world have been fascinated with the lives of sport players for decades. They are fascinated with how these rich and famous sports players live their lives, how they spend their earnings, and more importantly how much money they earn.
The average salary for sport players in general is in the millions. In 2006, the top NFL player salaries were in the 24 millions. Baseball players earn almost as much football players per year, and on average their yearly salaries are about 8 million. Hockey players can currently earn up to 11.3 million. Basketball players annually earn between 10 to 20 million.
Of course the salaries of what each sports player earns is different. Their salaries depend on how valuable a player they are. Therefore, one who may be considered highly valuable will get a bigger paycheck as an incentive to stay with that particular team.
Even still, there are plenty of people out there that wonder why sport players make so much money, and the answer is actually quite simple. People pay for entertainment. In fact, no matter how tough economic times get, people will always pay to have fun. Moreover, sports are global, meaning that most sports are played worldwide.
Although sport players make a tremendous amount of money, they have to work extremely hard throughout the year to maintain their positions. On each team, and in each sport, there is always someone younger, stronger, and possibly better waiting on just a small chance to prove that they have what it takes to earn that position.
