Kurt was born Kurtis Eugene Warner on June 22, 1971 in Burlington, Iowa. Warner played football in High School and also played in college at the University of Northern Iowa. There he was named the Gateway Conference’s Offensive Player of the Year as a senior. While Warner was in college he met his wife Brenda Carney. Brenda had been married before and had two children one of which was a special needs child. Kurt adopted both children and the couple now has five more children together.
From college Warner went on to the Green Bay Packer’s training camp in 1994 but was released before the season started. Warner then went back to Northern Iowa and was a graduate assistant coach with the university football team there. His dream was to play for a NFL team but he could find no team that would give him a chance. He played for the Arena Football League from 1995 to 1997. Finally in 1998, Warner signed on with the St. Louis Rams.

Warner led the Rams to Super Bowl XXXIV in 1999 where they beat the Tennessee Titans. Kurt threw for 414 yards, two touchdowns and was named the Super Bowl MVP.
The Rams released Warner on June 1, 2004 and he signed with the New York Giants two days later. Then, in 2005, he signed a $4 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals. When he was resigned in 2006 it was for $18 million plus performance incentives. Warner led the Arizona Cardinals to their first Super Bowl ever where they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-23 on February 1 2009.
